1776: Red Hook’s Fort Defiance plays an important role in the Revolutionary War.

The British war ship, the Roebuck, headed toward Fort Defiance. However, American soldiers were ready for battle. Using cannons built on the fort to keep the British at bay, the Americans were able to prevent one of the most detrimental battles of the war from occurring that day.
